HEREβS A SPECIAL ONE!
99% of Les Pauls in the world are crafted from maple and mahogany, but this one breaks that mold. Appealing to the tonewood aficionados out there, this one has a figured oak top and a korina body/neck. It is otherwise specβd as a β68 reissue, but it is chambered! As such, it is remarkably lightweight. Currently, Gibson reserves korina only for flying Vs, explorers, modernes, and futuras - special ordering a LP with these tonewoods is currently impossible. It was done though, back in 2003!
The figuring of the oak top is quite unique from that of maple - whereas maple usually has a βflameβ/βtiger stripeβ figuring pattern, Iβd describe the figuring of this oak top as βwavesβ or βripplesβ in the ocean. The grain is also distinct from maple. Itβs certainly a unique look whether you love oak or are simply looking to add something different to your guitarsenal. Additionally, korina has become increasingly desirable over recent years, and the korina used to create this LP is quite beautiful with its consistent color and grain. And the natural/trans amber finish certainly suits this LP well.
Besides the special tonewoods, this LPC is similarly specβd to 68 Reissue LPCs of the era - it features a set of β57 Classic pickups, an ebony fretboard, long neck tenon, grover tuners, gold hardware, and an ABR-1 bridge. But, this one is chambered and has an exotic flair!
If you want something differentβ¦
In βVery Goodβ condition. The gold hardwareβs plating has some wear and tarnishing. It has some scratches, impressions, and dings throughout. Thereβs some checking along some areas of the binding. The strap buttons were replaced with Schaller strap locks, but Iβve restored it with the original ones (however, the screw for the upper strap button is a new Gibson part). The toggle switch cap has been replaced with a genuine Gibson part - the original broke and is included in the case. I suspect the knobs are not original. Includes a non-original Gibson USA case and some non-original case candy. The case has some scratches, smudges, and tears.
