GIBSON REISSUED THE SPARKLE TOP DELUXE!!!
Gibson Custom Shop introduced the 2026 Limited Edition Collection, a lineup featuring 25 different models, and only 100 of each model will be crafted. Many of the models in the lineup are just aged and have a slightly different finish hue than the standard models. However, the 1976 Les Paul Deluxe Reissue is unique - the Custom Shop doesnāt have a 70s Deluxe in its usual offerings. But these Deluxes arenāt just any Deluxes - they are (more or less) faithful reissues of the most desirable Deluxes ever produced: the Sparkle Top Deluxes!
Anyone familiar with Gibson knows of the elusive Basalt Blue and Rocket Red Sparkle Les Paul Deluxes. With only a few hundred made back in the 70s, they are nearly impossible to acquire in decent condition and without issues. This new Custom Shop ā76 Les Paul Deluxe Reissue is the perfect opportunity to get your hands on a newly-made version of an iconic LP without any of the issues that plague older instruments like replaced parts, warped necks, repaired headstocks, and etc. These Deluxe Reissues have been built with all the 70s charm of the originals: non-weight relieved mahogany/maple/mahogany sandwich body, 3-piece maple neck, ABR-1 bridge, double-ringed Kluson tuners, mini humbucker pickups, and a headstock stylized with 70s design elements. If youāre a fan of older instruments but need the reliability of a modern guitar, this is the one for you.

At the heart of this model is the period-correct mahogany-and-maple āsandwichā body construction, topped with a carved maple cap and topped off with a striking VOS Blue Sparkle Top nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The combination delivers classic 70s sustain along with a voice thatās articulate, lively, and unmistakably Deluxe. Single ply binding around the top tastefully frames the finish, keeping the focus on its vibrant color and vintage accurate contours.
True to the era, the neck is carved from three-piece maple and shaped to the Authentic 1976 profile. It is equipped with a rosewood fretboard adorned with aged pearloid trapezoid inlays, reissue medium jumbo frets, and a comfortable 12 inch radius that makes string bends and chording equally easy. A long neck tenon ensures exceptional stability and sustain, making the guitar feel solid and responsive. A nylon nut, single ply binding, and period-correct construction details complete the neckās historically accurate specifications.
The unmistakable sound of a 70s Deluxe comes from its mini humbuckerā¢ pickups, accurately recreated here for their articulate punch, tight low end, and shimmering clarity. With two volume controls, two tone controls, and a three-way toggle pickup selector switch, the guitar offers a range of sounds that excel in everything from clean rhythm tones to singing lead work.
