GIBSON REISSUED THE SPARKLE TOP DELUXE!!!
Gibson Custom Shop introduced the 2026 Limited Edition Collection, a lineup featuring 25 different models, and only 100 of each model will be crafted. Many of the models in the lineup are just aged and have a slightly different finish hue than the standard models. However, the 1976 Les Paul Deluxe Reissue is unique - the Custom Shop doesn’t have a 70s Deluxe in its usual offerings. But these Deluxes aren’t just any Deluxes - they are (more or less) faithful reissues of the most desirable Deluxes ever produced: the Sparkle Top Deluxes!
Anyone familiar with Gibson knows of the elusive Basalt Blue and Rocket Red Sparkle Les Paul Deluxes. With only a few hundred made back in the 70s, they are nearly impossible to acquire in decent condition and without issues. This new Custom Shop ‘76 Les Paul Deluxe Reissue is the perfect opportunity to get your hands on a newly-made version of an iconic LP without any of the issues that plague older instruments like replaced parts, warped necks, repaired headstocks, and etc. These Deluxe Reissues have been built with all the 70s charm of the originals: non-weight relieved mahogany/maple/mahogany sandwich body, 3-piece maple neck, ABR-1 bridge, double-ringed Kluson tuners, mini humbucker pickups, and a headstock stylized with 70s design elements. If you’re a fan of older instruments but need the reliability of a modern guitar, this is the one for you.

The Gibson Custom 1976 Les Paulâ„¢ Deluxe Reissue, VOS, Red Sparkle, brings back into the spotlight one of the most distinctive eras of Les Paul craftsmanship, with exceptional detail and unmistakable 70s character. As part of the Gibson Custom Limited Edition Collection, a showcase of limited-run guitars inspired by standout Made to Measure orders and the expertise of the Nashville Custom Shop artisans, this reissue captures the personality, punch, and visual flair that made the mid 70s Deluxe a studio and stage favorite.
This edition features the classic mahogany and maple sandwich body construction of the period, paired with a carved maple top and finished in a vibrant VOS Red Sparkle nitrocellulose lacquer. The result is a solidbody Les Paul with lively attack, enhanced clarity, and the unmistakable midrange definition players associate with the Deluxe of this era. Its single ply top binding and cream appointments complete the authentic vintage aesthetic.
A three-piece maple neck with the Authentic 1976 profile delivers the unmistakable feel of a 70s instrument. It’s comfortable, fast, and sturdy. It’s topped with a rosewood fretboard sporting aged pearloid trapezoid inlays, reissue medium jumbo frets, a 12 inch radius, and single ply binding. With a traditional 24.75 inch scale length and a period-correct nylon nut, this neck provides the snap and stability that became synonymous with the Les Paul Deluxe during its rise to prominence.
The mini humbuckerâ„¢ pickup set is the defining voice of this reissue. They are bright, articulate, and punchy, with a focused low end and shimmering high end clarity. These pickups give the 1976 Deluxe its signature ability to cut through a mix while maintaining exceptional dynamic control. Two volume and two tone controls, along with a three-way toggle, offer expressive versatility for clean chime, warm overdrive, or full throttle rock tones.
